The West Valley boys varsity baseball team was defeated in all three games of a tough tournament last weekend. Approximately 4 of their teammates were unavailable to play as they were at the basketball playoffs.
The first game on Friday at Big League Dreams they lost to Shasta High School with a score of 9-2.
In their next game against Foothill High School they were defeated 10-3.
Saturday night was a slightly different story for the Eagles. They were tied with the Red Bluff Spartans 4-4 at the bottom of the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, a double play made the third out for the Spartans. In the next inning a fast ground ball hit by a Red Bluff player brought in three runs and the Spartans began to dominate from there. The game resulted in a 14-4 loss against Red Bluff.
The West Valley boys used three pitchers in Saturday's game. Blake Adkins was the starting pitcher followed by Matt Roberts and Al Doiron.
Senior Gary Vanderberg hit the Eagles only home run of the game. Runs were also scored by Justin Clark, Joey Clark and Al Doiron.
Through out all of the games, the Eagles kept their heads high, and congratulated one another on good plays. After the game, they came off the field with smiles on their faces, knowing that they had played their best.
