Local Happy Valley family members Gary and Sandra O'Connell and daughter Nichole Abernathy came up with the idea of opening a new video store in December 2008 following the closure of West Valley Video inside Country Market.
They didn't want local families to have to drive into Anderson or Cottonwood just to rent a movie. World Wide Video and Games currently has more than 600 titles and is getting in new DVD's each week. A permanent special offer includes 30 movies for 30 days for $25.
Besides DVDs, they also carry a variety of video games and provide many other on-line services.
The threesome opened their new business in mid-January.
They provide personalized customer service and plan to build the business. By summer, they would like to offer a virtual golf simulator and an area where youth can sit and watch movies.
"Business is going good. People are finally noticing that we are here and come in to rent movies." stated Gary O'Connell. "We want to provide a long-lasting service to the people of Happy Valley."
The O'Connell family have been residents of Happy Valley for more than four years. They enjoy the area's slower pace of life.
The business is open seven days a week from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
