WASTED BURGERS: Anderson Fire Protection District examines the outlet used by a refrigerated milk cart after a small fire in the Meadow Lane cafeteria before noon on Wednesday.

The Meadow Lane Elementary School cafeteria filled with the smell of burnt insulation and smoke when a refrigerator motor on a milk cart caught fire at about 11:30 p.m., Anderson Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Howard Fincher said.

Only the students at lunch were evacuated. Other classes did not exit the premises.

The fire was promptly put out on the spot by school staff.

"The training pays off," Fincher said.

Student lunches were left behind and subsequently thrown out.
