The West Valley varsity baseball team took second place in the Marble mountain tournament last weekend, March 13 and 14.
Etna High School hosted the tournament at Fort Jones' Walker Field and Etna High school's Bigham Field.
West Valley started strong, winning their first game against Mt. Shasta 12-2. Matt Roberts was the starting pitcher, and Tony D'Chevy pitched relief.
Justin Naber went 2 for 2 with 2 runs, had 2 RBI's and 2 doubles. Justin Clark went 2 for 3 with 2 runs, and Matt Roberts was 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs on a triple.
West Valley beat Yreka 5-0 in game 2 with Blake Adkins as the starting pitcher and Al Doiron and Justin Naber in relief.
In this game, Joe Clark went 1 for 2 with 1 run and Blake Adkins was also 1 for 1 with a double.
West Valley topped Trinity 15-2 in the single elimination game, where West Valley had a whopping 20 hits.
The Eagles starting pitcher was Luke Alward, and Gary Vanderburg came in for relief.
Justin Naber was 5 for 5 with 3 runs, 3 RBIs, and 2 doubles. Gary Vanderburg went 3 for 4 with 1 run and 3 RBIs. Justin Clark went 3 for 4 with 2 runs and Joe Clark went 3 for 5 with 4 runs.
The Eagles barely got beat in the championship game against Central Valley, 12-14, in what was described as well-played, fun-to-watch game.
West Valley Had 14 hits, while Central Valley had 11.
Matt Roberts pitched 3 innings, while relief pitchers Justin Clark and Al Doiron threw for 2 innings.
Al Doiron went 4 for 5 with 3 runs, 1 RBI and 2 doubles. Matt Roberts went 2 for 5 with 1 run and 3 RBIs. Jael Uhl was 1 for 1 with 2 RBIs, and Gary Vanderburg went 2 for 4 with 3 runs and had 1 RBI.
