Burglars broke a glass door and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, candy and paperwork from Shampoodles, a pet grooming business at 3365 East St. in Anderson on March 3.
The burglary did not appear to be caused by the same suspects that broke into any of several Anderson businesses late in 2008, Anderson Police Department Captain Robert Kirvin said.
"This one was probably from kids," Kirvin said, citing the theft of candy as an indicator.
Owner of Shampoodles Kate Loomis said she signed up with an alarm company to keep her business safer in the future.
The APD successfully took fingerprints from the crime scene, Kirvin said.
During the rash of business break-ins a few months ago, Kirvin cautioned businesses against keeping cash in registers overnight. He added that businesses should leave the empty registers open so a burglar would be less inclined to break it open. Kirvin also recommended that alarm systems should be tested that they are working properly.
Break-ins and burglaries in Anderson late last year included The Lunch Box Deli on Oct. 27, Players Pizza and Sports on Nov. 4, Ace Hardware on Nov. 11, and both Franklin Auto Parts and Mary's Pizza Shack were targeted on Dec. 13.
