Diane I. Mace

Diane I. Mace, 63, of Anderson died March 17, 2009 Tuesday at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. Arrangements handled by Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Anderson (365-5466).

Walter Harley

Walter Harley (Walt) Pryor, 70, of Cottonwood, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 of the effects of 3 blood cancers: Polycythemia Vera, Multiple Myeloma, and Amyloidosis at his home in Cottonwood. Walt was the oldest child of Henry Nicholas Pryor and Hazel Evelyn Talbott. He was born September 10, 1938 in Superior, Wisconsin. Walt grew up on a dairy farm in Township of Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin where he completed his earlier education. He earned his AA from Mount San Antonio College, in Walnut, California in May 1972. He completed his BA in May 1974 from California State University, Fullerton, in Fullerton, California.

Walter worked for Chubb Group of Insurance Companies for 20 years as an underwriter, department manager, zone manager and Assistant Vice President of Chubb Corp in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Encino, all in Southern California.

Walter married Jo Ann Lintz on October 18, 1969. They moved to Southern California in January 1970 where they lived until his retirement October 1, 1993. The Pryors had purchased property in Cottonwood, Tehama County, California in 1986 and moved here full time on October 1, 1993.

Walter is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Lintz Pryor, of Cottonwood and daughter, Cherie June Jacobson, and son-in-law, Scott Alan Jacobson, and grandson, Tyler Scott Jacobson, all of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and grandson, Ryan Alan Jacobson, of Spokane, Washington. Also surviving are his sister, Virginia Alice Carlson, and brother-in-law, Donald Gene Carlson, of Superior, Wisconsin. Walt is also survived by his half siblings, Dorothy Alma Goudelis, of Poplar, Wisconsin and James Howard Bailey of Kentwood, Louisiana. Locally he is survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanne Marie and David Charles Arter and niece and nephew, Jennifer Lynn and Thomas Patrick Bulmer all of Redding. He is survived by many other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Joseph Allen Pryor, and half brothers, Bernard Glen Bailey and Henry George Bailey.

Family will be receiving friends at a viewing from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Chapel of the Flowers, 816 Walnut Street, Red Bluff, California.

Walt served in the United States Army from 1961-1963 with service mainly in Europe and particularly at the Berlin Wall. Burial will be in the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, Igo, California with full military honors on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Honorary pallbearers are: grandsons, Ryan Alan Jacobson and Tyler Scott Jacobson; son-in-law, Scott Alan Jacobson; brothers-in-law, Donald Gene Carlson and David Charles Arter; and dear friends, Gary Leonard Peterson and Glen B. Nielsen.

John Turskey

John Turskey, 30, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009. Born in Redding, CA on June 9, 1978, he resided in Cottonwood.

He is survived by his parents, John and Janice Turskey, his sisters Julie Stratton and Jennifer Glazier, his brothers-in-law David Stratton and Jake Glazier, his precious niece Lila Kai Glazier, and his grandmothers Terry Strykowski and Lillian Turskey Pollina.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21 at 12 noon at Sacred Heart Church in Anderson.

Eddie Joe Smith

Eddie Joe Smith, 61, of Anderson died March 9, 2008 at a work site in Los Angeles. Arrangements handled by McDonald's Redding Chapel (241-1626).
