AARP offers April driver safety classes

AARP is again helping older drivers brush up on their skills.

The AARP Driver Safety Course is presented through videotape and group discussion. It covers age related physical changes in perception and reaction time, new rules of the road, and local driving conditions. Participants who complete the course may be eligible for an automobile insurance discount.

The eight-hour class is set for April 6-7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day at BloodSource, 1880 Park Marina in Redding.

A four-hour refresher course will also be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 28 at Frontier Senior Center, 1081 Frontier Trail in Anderson.

Participants should check with their insurance company or agent prior to taking these courses for any additional eligibility requirements or automobile insurance discounts offered.

The cost of both class types is $14.

AARP members receive a $2.00 discount. AARP members must present their membership card or membership number on the first day of the class. AARP members who have lost their membership cards should call 1-888-OUR-AARP (1-888-687-2277) to obtain the number.

Call (530) 474-4090 for information and registration details regarding the Redding and Anderson courses. Pre-registration is a must. Each class is limited to 30 participants, so call early.
