The vacant Farmers Insurance Group building suffered about $30,000 in damage from an electrical fire that was reported at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, according to Anderson Fire Protection District Deputy Chief Andy Nichols.

The electrical fire began from a water heater in a bathroom, Nichols said, adding that he shut off the building's utilities upon arriving. One block of North Street was closed to traffic for over an hour.

The structure, at 2901 North St. in Anderson, was previously owned by Don Dickison. Current owner John Walsh had closed escrow on the property in recent months, according to Anderson insurance agent John Winn.
