Lean and Green Day provides young and old excuse to enjoy a walk

Nutritious food tastings, games and exercise awaits attendees of Lean and Green Day at Volonte Park on March 25. The City of Anderson Parks and Recreation Department have put on the event for 5 years running.

Youth are welcome to the early event, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., which includes a Nutrition Olympics, tastings of healthy foods, and representatives from Fish and Wildlife to talk about the habitat in Volonte Park.

Anderson High School students have participated heavily in the production of the event by creating informative posters at stations along the walking path.

Adults are welcome to join the event at 3 p.m. for a community walk in Volonte Park. Information about healthy living is widely available at the event, when the South County community at large is invited for a healthy stroll.

Joining the public on the walk are Shasta County Supervisor for District 5 Les Baugh and Anderson City Councilman Keith Webster.
