The cowboys and cowgirls of Cottonwood pulled all the tricks out of their hats to successfully place in many of their rodeo events on March 14 at the Bobby Jones Arena in Cottonwood.
The Wrangler Junior high Rodeo Association held two full rodeos in one day, getting ready for the district finals which will be held in McArthur on April 11, and the state finals rodeo taking place in May in Plymouth.
In the team roping, header Bodie Robbins and heeler Cameron Jones made two great runs, the first at a time of 21.15 seconds for second place. In their second run of the day, the two boys achieved a time of 8.45 seconds, putting them into first place in the district going into the finals with 44 points, which bumped Brody Gill of Millville and Sterling Humphrey of McArthur into second place with 38 points in the event for the season.
Cody Ellis of Cottonwood had two successful bull rides made with confidence and style. Former Cottonwood resident Casey Meroshnekoff, 15, was the bull fighter out lending a hand with pick up men Billy Holland and Alex Meroshnekoff.
In the barrels, breakaway and pole bending Anna Doyle, Emily Clendenen, Jenna Nichol, Kayla Nichol and Rilee Arrowsmith showed that they were Cowgirl Tuff, placing in all of their events.
The association sent out a special thank you to all of the volunteers, judges, announcers, timers, pick up men, bull fighters and arena directors.
