Dennis James McGee

Dennis James McGee of Old Station, passed away on March 14, 2009 at his home following a short illness. He was 64.

Dennis was born on July 15, 1944 in Red Bluff. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1962. Dennis left Shasta County and settled in Ukiah where he met his wife Susan. He returned to Shasta County in 1998 to live on his family's property on Hat Creek. Dennis had been a general contractor for the past 25 years, building beautiful custom homes.

Dennis' favorite past time was fishing. Whether catching trout out of Hat Creek or fishing bass tournaments on the beautiful California lakes, Dennis loved having his son by his side. He greatly enjoyed passing on his fishing knowledge to his grandchildren and also got a big kick out of watching his grandsons play baseball and football. Dennis volunteered at the Old Station Fire Department helping out with many fund raising activities. You could find him behind the barbecue at the Chicken Barbecue fundraiser, flipping pancakes at the Annual Fisherman's Breakfast and serving strawberry shortcake at the Strawberry Feed.

Dennis is survived by his wife Susan Rose McGee of Old Station, his son Sean McGee and daughter in-law Melinda of Shingletown and his daughter Kelli Peterschmidt of Hawaii and five grandchildren: Tyler, Justin and Kacey McGee and Christopher and Hannah Peterschmidt. Dennis also leaves behind three step children: Rachael Rose of Old Station, Andrew Rose of Orange County and Alan Rose of Ukiah.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father and mother, Noble and Frances McGee.
