District Fair brings back Shasta County Idol, sales of advance discount fair tickets

Shasta District Fair grounds announced the return of Shasta County Idol contest to be held during the 2009 fair, June 17-21. The event is open to youth between ages 9-15 and 16-25 to perform vocals and compete for prizes.

Judges will select 60 contestants to perform on one of the three nights of the fair between 6-7:30 p.m. on the Pepsi Stage. Advancement to the Semi Final round will consist of 30 contestants on Saturday, June 20, and the final competition of the 15 remaining contestants will be Sunday, June 21.

Contestants would be responsible to provide back up music in the form of a CD. The fair will provide sound and CD player.

Entry forms are due in the fair office, 1890 Briggs St., Anderson, Calif. 96007, no later than 5 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009. Faxes are not accepted.

Advance tickets

Advance discounts on admission and carnival rides for the 2009 Shasta District Fair are now on sale online and at several Anderson and Redding locations.

Pre-event discounts, representing up to 30 percent savings, include a book of 5 admission tickets for $22.50 and Carnival Wristbands for a day of unlimited rides at $23 each. Admission and Carnival ride advance discounts are available at all North Valley Bank locations, Tri-counties Bank in Anderson and Redding, Anderson Ace Hardware Express, Butte Community Banks, Cash-It-Now in Anderson and Premier West Banks, or online at www.shastadistrictfair.com. Advance discounts must be purchased by Tuesday, June 16.
