West Valley lauded in CSU study

West Valley High school has been selected for special recognition among North State schools by the Early Assessment Program at California State University, Chico.

The program serves more than 80 North State schools, including nine counties that span from Yreka to Yuba City.

The Early Assessment program was developed by a collaboration of educational agencies to provide students, their families and high schools with early signals about students readiness for college-level English and mathematics. It also identifies a students need for extra preparation in these areas while they are still enrolled in high school.

The Early Assessment Program is voluntary, but in the Spring of 2008, 70 percent of all California juniors took the EAP in mathematics. West Valley High School was one of the most improved participation rate in the EAO mathematics portion, from 82 percent in 2007 to 94 percent in 2008.
