WRONG WAY:
A vehicle driven by Frankie Stevenson of Redding is towed off of the railway in Anderson April 28.

Frankie Stevenson, of Redding, drove south on northbound Hwy. 273 before turning onto the railroad tracks at the Spring Gulch Road crossing. She continued driving on the railway for an additional 140 feet before stranding her automobile at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, according to CHP Officer Anderson.

Union Pacific was contacted to cease train traffic in the area.

Although no train was en route at the time, "she missed three trains by a short time," Anderson said. "It was a very fortunate result. They don't always end that way."

Upon inspection, medical personnel said Stevenson did not appear to be intoxicated or otherwise impaired, Anderson said.

The CHP investigation is ongoing.
