An officer of the Anderson Police Department was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center after getting punched in the back of the head Thursday, May 14, when officers responded to 3816 DuPont St. in Anderson. The officers arrived at the residence at 4 p.m. with Child and Family Services officials to further investigate reports of child abuse, as a 12-year-old female attending Anderson Middle School was reported to have marks on her indicating abuse, according to APD Captain Robert Kirvin.

CFS decided to take temporary custody of the children when Cecil McPike, 65, of Anderson, and Christopher Quinonez, 18, also of Anderson, resisted officers.

Quinonez struck the APD officer as the children were escorted to a vehicle for transport. Eight children, ages 2 to 12, were taken into protective custody.

McPike was arrested for obstructing an officer. Quinonez was arrested for obstructing an officer with violence.

The APD officer was released from the hospital the same day and was reported by Kirvin to be back at work the next day.

"We don't release the name of an officer when they are a victim without permission from the officer," Kirvin said. "It's an internal policy."

The last assault of an APD officer occurred April 13, 2006 on officer Regina Collier.

'jazzle'.....what GRADE are you in? 2nd? Have you ever heard of grammar? IF one was to make sense of your comment (doubtful...) I don't think you'll get much sympathy. Sounds like a case of a disfunctional situation, of which I'm figuring you're a member of.
Too bad for the children here.

Well "Jazzle" I was right....innerbreeding, even in Anderson, should be outlawed! You are living proof that 'nuts don't fall far from the tree'.
How this individual turned out like he did is quite apparent now. Again I say, Too Bad For The Children!
PS: Maybe a nite course or an online educational site may be of help to you in your grammar....but then that would require you to be able to read.

It is doubtful that some family members will ever understand that the reason the police and child protective services were there in first place was because at least one of the children was being abused. I believe that the suspected violence on the child was confirmed when the suspect resisted the lawful orders of a police officer. What the punk who "blind sided" the officer needs to understand is that the officer showed great restraint by not completely cleaning their clock while being assaulted.Let's see if they're as lucky with the Judge.

Regardless of some people's opinions, the police have a job to do and do it well. Simple respect for yourself and others could prevent most of this type of violence. Have some officers abused their power? Of course, but that doesn't mean the rest of them who work hard and are there for the community deserve the abuse and the donut jokes. If people would act like adults and teach their children manners, we would get to see and hear more about the good things these officers do in our community.
