Anderson Fire District receives $103,406 grant for new water tender

On April 30, 2009, the Local Community Benefit Committee (LCBC), composed of members from the Redding Rancheria, the City of Redding and the County of Shasta, met and awarded $517,031 to local governmental jurisdictions in Shasta County to assist in mitigating impacts caused by the Win River and Pit River Casinos. The LCBC received 19 requests for funding totaling over $1.5M, yet had only $517,031 available to award for Fiscal Year 2008-2009.

Projects awarded by the LCBC for FY 2008-2009 were:

Shasta County Sheriff's Office - Deputy Sheriff, Casino Liaison at $30,110.

Shasta County District Attorney's Office - Casino Crimes Prosecution Unit at $125,000.

City of Redding - Cascade Zone Water System Improvements at $258,515.

City of Anderson Fire Protection District - Water Tender at $103,406.

The funds for the AFPD water tender would go toward a $173,000 water tender. The district would cover for the remaining cost another way, AFPD Deputy Chief Andy Nichols said.
