The Anderson Valley Garden Club celebrated a belated Arbor Day with the planting of a red maple in the Anderson River Park on May 14. The club has planted a tree each year in the river park over the last 20 years, according to Anne Capes, Cascade District Director.

The Anderson Valley Garden Club and Cottonwood Garden Club will jointly hold a flower show Saturday, May 16, at the Anderson City Hall, 1887 Howard St., in Anderson.

The event's theme is "A Spring Celebration."

Entries are to be received between 8:30-10 a.m. with public viewing from 1-3:30 p.m.

In conjunction, there will also be a bake sale and quilts on display for viewing as well, said Donna Sills, publicity chair.

For information or to enter, call 547-5118 or 347-3656.
