Anderson NTHS Report

The end of the year has finally come. All students are excited for the coming of summer, especially our seniors who know this is officially their last high school summer.

New Tech's prom was held Friday, May 22, at the Riverview Country Club in Redding from 8 p.m.-midnight.

Seniors and juniors alike were looking forward to this for many weeks.

The annual Day on the Green will be held Friday, May 29, at Anderson River Park.

This is a great end-of-the-year activity with basketball, baseball, live music, a barbecue and much more. It will be a time of celebration and fun.

The ANTHS Sober Grad committee had a very successful rummage sale that far exceeded anyone's expectations. In addition to the rummage sale, the car wash was also very successful and raised more than $800 toward Sober Grad.

In fact, one gentleman donated $100 in memory of his son who died in a drunk-driving accident.

This year's Sober Grad party will be held at Sun Oaks Tennis & Fitness Club in Redding.

Check in time is between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. No one will be admitted after 11 p.m.

Graduates will be dropped off and must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Check out time is anytime after 5:30 a.m.

To learn more about teen driving safety and driver licensing laws, New Tech teamed up with Shasta County Public Health and the California Highway Patrol to host Driving Awareness Day.

Parents and students were encouraged to visit the front of our school on Wednesday, May 20, during lunch and right after school during student pick-up times.

Information about traffic safety and collision prevention were available and health and law enforcement personnel were on hand to answer questions and provide tips for increasing a teen's safety.

ANTHS hosted one of the free Show- N- Shines for Hot-O-Rama on Tuesday, April 21.

A group of our leadership students helped to judge the cars and worked the concession stand at North Valley Auto Sales. It was a great event that showed off some really cool cars.

Last month, from April 5-10, Caitlin Kuehl and Rebecca Flaig attended the North State Yosemite Institute sponsored by the McConnell Foundation where they had a great time enjoying the outdoors.

Finally, all can look forward to the Anderson New Technology Graduation at 7:30 p.m. on June 4th in the Cascade Theatre, Redding.
