Happy Valley 4-H beef club prepares members for Shasta District Fair

The Happy Valley 4-H beef group met in Ono to get ready for the Shasta District Fair June 17-21. We painted signs, put together a wheelbarrow, and also painted our stall signs a bright 4-H green.

We filled out fair exhibitor forms and planned our next several meetings since the fair is coming up so fast.

We ate some great beef stew made by one of our members Moms. It was good.

We weighed one of our member's steers. Our steers are all coming along really good. We are all going to make it to the fair and we are really looking forward to that.

Three of our members competed at a recent agricultural field day. It was a rainy and stormy day, but we did the best we could.

We have been selling the Community BBQ tickets. With a ticket, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat beef, pork, lamb and meat goat. Tickets can be purchased from any Happy Valley 4-H member. They are only $10.00 .What a great donation idea!

The Community BBQ is scheduled for July 3rd during the Anderson Explodes! fireworks celebration at the Shasta District Fair grounds in Anderson.

Hurry and support Happy Valley 4-H by buying a ticket. The funds go to a good cause. From the sale of each $10 ticket, half the money goes back to our club treasury and helps us to do things for our community and for our members.

The Happy Valley 4-H group would like to thank Gary Lemon of Redding for cutting out our plywood steers that we painted. They will identify animals and owners during the fair. They turned out good.

Also, we would like to thank Ace Hardware Express in Redding for giving us a discount on our wheelbarrow that we need for the fair. Also thanks to Signsations in redding for donating some neat signs to put on our wheelbarrow and show box.

We have been working hard and are getting ready to clip our animals and prepare them for June.

Please come by the fair to see us and meet our animals. We have been working really hard and our animals have turned out great.
