Two Anderson men newly sworn-in as CHP officers

Anderson residents Thomas Barto and Paul Nelson were sworn in among 173 others as California Highway Patrol officers on May 15 at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento.

Nelson was assigned to CHP's Alturas Area office.

Officer Nelson is a 1991 graduate of Anderson High School. He earned a bachelor of science in English from Simpson University. Prior to joining the CHP, he was a loan officer at Integrity Matters Real Estate and Mortgage.

Barto was assigned to duty at the CHP's Quincy Area office.

Officer Barto is a 1998 graduate of Sonoma Valley High School. He studied general education at Shasta College in Redding. Prior to joining the CHP, he was employed in the Redding Police Department as a community service officer.
