Effective Nov. 1, residential dry vegetation burn season will be open within the Anderson Fire Protection District and permits are required for all burning. Permits and burn regulations will be available at the District office located at 1925 Howard St. Anderson at no charge.
As a reminder, the county's burn day information number is (530) 224-8777 and will need to be called each day after 9:15 am and prior to igniting any burn piles. Burn hours will remain 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and all fires will need to be completely out by 5:00 pm.
Burn permits in the Cottonwood Fire Protection District are available for $5 at the district fire hall at 3271 Brush St. during business hours.
Outside those districts in Shasta County, residents may burn a four by four foot pile of dried vegetation only on permissive burn days, according to a Cal Fire spokeswoman. Residents may not legally burn garbage, paper, or cardboard. While burning vegetation, residents must have a water supply nearby and a shovel.
