That Happy Valley seventh grade girls basketball team, won their first tournament since 2007. The team began practicing together approximately two weeks ago; the 10 girls on the Lady Vikings Basketball team are coached by Cory Francescut and Mike Nagely.

The tournament was for sixth and seventh grade girls, hosted by West Cottonwood School. The sixth grade banner was won by Parsons Junior High School of Redding.

The Vikings won the first game of the tournament on Thursday October 29th against Parsons Junior High School of Redding 39-27. They then went on to take charge of their first game Saturday Morning, October 31st against Anderson Middle School winning the game 31-24. Towards the end of the day, the girls played a tough game against the West Cottonwood seventh grade girls team, ending the tournament with a score of 31-16.

"The girls played a great set of games. I told them when we started the season, that if we wanted to win, we had to work hard, play hard and have the desire to win. I don't believe that there was a high point shooter or a most valuable player, because we are a team and teams work together," said coach Francesut.

The next tournament the team will participate in, is on November 6th and 7th hosted by Anderson Middle School, for players on the 7th and 8th grade teams.
