By the time you read this article, I will have traveled to Arizona and returned.
On the way, we will stop to see my brother and sister before we go on to Arizona for the wedding of my husband Art's niece.
While there, we will meet up with Art's other two sisters, Elizabeth and Margie.
We will stay a total of four days as Art wants to go to Mariposa to see the steam trains there before we return to California to visit another of Art's sisters, Mary.
While there, we will also visit Art's uncle, John, who is in his 90s.
It will be nice to get away for a while. We have both been working very hard here at the farm.
I will do most of the driving. I love to drive. It relaxes me, even when I am in traffic. I wouldn't want to driver every day in Los Angeles, but once a year is okay. The traffic keeps me on my toes, and I always drive defensively.
Not much to report this week in Happy Valley except to note that if you want to see how olive oil is made, mark your calendar for noon Saturday, Nov. 21. The Happy Valley Farm Trail will be meeting at NuOlinda Olive Farm, operated by Gary Pepe. It is located at 17071 Olinda Road.
Since the Farm Trail will be meeting at the homes of farmer members, we thought workshops would be more informative. You do not need to be a member of the Farm Trail in order to attend.
However, now is the time to join the Farm Trail. We are putting together a Web site, and you don't want to be left out.
For $30 per year, the Web site message about your farm will reach thousands of potential customers.
We are also creating another map that will be handed out at the Strawberry Festival and at other events. Last year, we went to four events and handed out 3,000 maps.
Call me at 357-2416 and I will send you an application.
Well, I'm out of here. I still have to pack my bags and get to bed. We need to arise at 2 a.m. Don't forget to recycle, volunteer, pray for our country and keep farming.
And remember, if you say, "I can't do it," God says, "You can do all things." Philippians 4:13
