Anderson unable to stop Corning

HOLD THE LINE: Anderson’s defense holds the line during the game on Oct. 23 game against Central Valley. The Cubs won the match up 22-18.

The Cubs traveled south to Corning for their final game of the season, they fell to the Cardinals 40-21.

Anderson fought to catch up to the Cardinals until the very end, but an interception with 2:14 left in the fourth quarter clinched the game for Corning. They scored a couple of plays later bringing the score to 40-21.

Anderson made its first touchdown off of a short kick return by Corning right before the half. Cubs quarterback Chris Meyers scored 20 yards out from the end zone on the quarterback keeper, bringing the score to 21-7.

The Cubs did not start their come back until the fourth quarter, when they scored a touchdown from 15 yards out cutting Corning's lead to 27-14.

Corning answered back with their own touchdown and Anderson scored again to bring the score to 33- 21.

Then late in the fourth Meyers was intercepted and Corning clinched the game 40-21.

Anderson's inability to stop the run was ultimately their demise and cost them the game.
