Tickets are still available for performances of "My Fair Lady," the annual production jointly undertaken by students from Anderson Union High School and West Valley High School.
"This year's fall musical is going to be breathtaking," said Debbie Schleuter, production manager. "The costumes of old England will rival any of our past musicals, and the dancing will have you on your feet with applause."
Based on George Bernard Shaw's "Pygmalion" with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, the musical depicts Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl, taking speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins on a crude bet that he boastfully made that he could pass any woman off as a sophisticate.
True to character, Higgins takes credit for Eliza's success until she realizes that with her new language skills, she can be independent and do without him.
Performances take place Nov. 10-14 at the Anderson Union High School Performing Arts Center, 1471 Ferry St., Anderson. Evening shows start at 7 p.m. each of those dates. Additionally, there is a 2 p.m. matinee intended for families with younger children that starts at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 each for students with ID as well as seniors 60 and older. Opening night only, Nov. 10, students with ID will be admitted for $6.
Tickets are on sale at NCG 1 Stop Music Shop, 2303-A Balls Ferry Road, Anderson (378-0122); Bernie's Guitar, 3086 Bechelli Lane, Redding (223-2040); Anderson Union H.S. District Office, 1469 Ferry St., and the Anderson Union High School Performing Arts Center box office Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. (365-2741, ext. 1671).
