Voters give Cascade a fresh board

Voters in the Cascade Union Elementary School District chose not re-elect any of their incumbents, instead choosing to elect a pair of teachers, a former district employee and a local business owner.

Jeffrey Carr, Leila Dumore and Les McMullen have each been elected to four-year terms on the district's board. Retired school employee Terri Quigley was also elected to a two-year term.

"I am confident that all of our board members, newly elected and incumbents, will benefit the district greatly so long as their focus is always squarely on the best interests of the students they are elected to serve. Now the real work begins and I wish them all the luck in the world," said Wes Smith, superintendent for the Cascade elementary district.

Smith was just hired to be superintendent at Morgan Hill Unified School District. One of the first challenges the new board will face will be to replace Smith.
