A 25-year-old Anderson man was arrested late Wednesday night after police chased him down in the Red Bud Lane neighborhood of Anderson.
Just before 10 p.m., police responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident at the USA gas station in Anderson.
Police later located the suspect's vehicle at a nearby bar and approached Nicholas Cherry, who matched the description of the alleged hit-and-run driver, Anderson police Officer Mathew Goodwin said today. Cherry fled the bar and a chase followed that involved the Anderson Police Department, California Highway Patrol and Shasta County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Cherry started running through the backyards of several homes along Red Bud Lane before he was caught with the help of a stun gun, Goodwin said.
Cherry was booked into the Shasta County Jail and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting a peace officer, and giving a false identity to a peace officer, Goodwin said.
