Chloe Fowler, Reporter

Happy Valley Beef Group had their monthly meeting Sunday November 1 at the Fowler Ranch in Ono. Laura Elkins, Chloe Fowler, Julie Mondorf, Ethan Tapal and Brandon Wogoman were all present.

Coleen Wogoman, beef leader, submitted the budget it was approved. Brandon Wogoman reported we had three orders of wood that we would cut and deliver that day. Ethan Tapal wrote a letter to the Angus Association and to the Hereford Association asking for information regarding their breeds, they mailed back several boxes of material that will help us not only learn more about our breeds but about the caretaking and feeding of our steers as well as promotional materials that will help us spread the word about the beef industry. We were all happy that Ethan did this and are very appreciative of the Angus and Hereford Associations for helping us so much.

We all reported on our beef projects and how they were doing. All members are in the process of halter breaking and gentling them down. Mrs Wogoman will start coming to individual members houses to weigh steers once a month.

We finished our meeting at 10:00 am and went to cut wood. We had three trucks of wood cut and ready for delivery by 12:30. We ate lunch, beef sandwiches, out in the field and then loaded up for delivery.

Happy Valley Beef kids want to say thank you to our parents who donated the fuel and trucks for delivery of the wood, and to the people who purchased the wood for supporting our beef group and the 4H program, we appreciate you.

We will be doing our first community service December 5, at North Cottonwood School. We are going to serve dinner for Keys and Strings Studio "Winter Formal Banquet". Our Happy Valley Community Group will also be collecting cans of food and toys for our December 7 Food and Toy Drive, if you would like to make donations, please call Brandon Wogoman at

357-3477.

As a reminder if you purchased tickets for the raffle drawing, "Log Cabin Playhouse" the raffle will take place November 28, during Cottonwoods Old Fashion Days. You can still purchase tickets the day of for $5. This benefits and is sponsored by Shasta County 4H and FFA.

Our next meeting will be at the Wogomans, December 6, 2009.
