It's hard to believe that fire season slipped right by us and now we're in the middle of fall. Soon, the Happy Valley firefighters, families and friends will be making their annual trek into the mountains to cut fresh trees for the Pancake Breakfast and Christmas Tree Sale.
Saturday, Dec. 5 will be the big day. Beginning at 7 a.m. at Fire Station #2 on Cloverdale Road, early risers armed with flashlights will begin searching for their idea of the perfect tree. Approximately 150 trees, of all sizes and shapes will be available. Prices range from $10 to $25. A few extra tall and shapely trees may be purchased for $35.00.
Coming in out of the chilly morning, breakfast of pancakes, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee or milk will be served to those who are in need of a quick warm-up. Adults may purchase a delicious breakfast for $4.00, while children, 12 and under, will pay just $2.00.
In addition, the 4-H kids will be selling wreathes and mistletoe. The Canyon Fire Memorial tee shirts will also be available for $15.00.
This is the Happy Valley Volunteers' second largest fundraiser. It is surpassed only by the barbecue, Auction and Dance in July. The public is encouraged to come on out for a morning of fun. Trees and breakfast will be on sale as long as supplies last.
