MelEnMar Entertainment, a social club, is hosting a fund-raiser dinner buffet complete with entertainment beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Woodside Grill adjacent to and connected with the Gaia Hotel & Spa in Anderson.
Participants will dine in elegant style while enjoying the beautiful piano music of David Pomeranz, who just happened to write several No. 1 hits made famous by Barry Manilow including "Tryin' to Get the Feeling Again" and "The Old Songs."
Tickets for the event are $50 per person and admission includes a sumptuous dinner buffet prepared by Executive Chef Gregory McChristian including your choice of prime rib, turkey or vegetarian pasta.
Proceeds from the event will benefit programs helping youths and seniors in Shasta and Tehama counties, said Maria Villezar, the Mar of MelEnMar. Her partners include Melissa Bowker and Encar Vegas.
Pomeranz also wrote "It's in Every One of Us," the theme song of a major sponsor at the Summer Olympic Games held in Seoul, Korea. Hailed by Billboard Magazine as "one of our greater voices," his songwriting projects have earned Pomeranz 22 platinum and 18 gold albums.
Songs written and composed by Pomeranz have been performed by many great artists including Clay Aiken, Kenny Loggins, Bette Midler, Isaac Hayes, Harry Belafonte, Leo Sayer, Mel Brooks, Kenny Rogers, Phoebe Snow, The Hollies, The Carpenters, The Muppets, Billy Dean and hip-hop artist Missy Elliott, who sampled David's music in 2002 for her chart-topping hit single, "One Minute Man."
Pomeranz has recently released a new 17-song CD compilation, titled "A Personal Touch," that includes many of his most beloved Romantic hits including "If You Walked Away," "Born for You" and "This is What I Dreamed."
Pomeranz has also written and performed songs for many television series and specials including "Boston Legal" on ABC, "Will and Grace" on NBC, "American Idol" on FOX and "Zoobilee Zoo" on PBS. He also composed the entire score for the Showtime network's "Elvis Presley's Graceland."
