Lions Club flag fundraiser successful

The Enterprise Lions Club held a one-day drive-through fund-raiser Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the giant flag on North Bechelli Lane in Redding.

The all-day event was held despite blustery weather. Nevertheless, the community came out in force, said event organizer Elisa Coyle.

Thanks to the support of the community, the Enterprise Lions Club collected more than $12,000 during the drive-through fund-raiser, Coyle said.

The outpouring of support for the veterans, service personnel and active military personnel was heartwarming, club spokesman Mike Ferrier said.

The fund is now only $38,000 short of its self-sustaining goal, Ferrier said.

Although the drive-through fund-raiser has concluded, donations are always accepted, he added.

Lion's members encourage donations of any amount to the fund. Donations can be mailed to Shasta Regional Community Foundation located at 1335 Arboretum Drive, Suite B, Redding, CA 96003, or can be made online at www.shastarcf.org.

Please designate the donation for the "Keep Our Flag Flying Fund."

All donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
