Pete Stiglich announced as Congressional candidate of California's 2nd District

The Committee to Elect Colonel Pete Stiglich for Congress is pleased to announce the candidacy of Cottonwood resident Pete Stiglich for California's 2nd Congressional District.

Stiglich will face off against incumbent Wally Herger, a long-time member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

"Like never before, we need an emboldened Republican Party willing to lay out a clear conservative agenda and the leadership to stand up and fight for it," says Stiglich. "And I'm just the guy to do it."

Stiglich, a native of California, retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2006 after 26 years of honorable service. Upon returning to his ranch in Cottonwood, Stiglich dedicated himself to advocacy for veterans and community affairs. He also wrote a popular conservative column for the Red Bluff Daily News entitled "Dare I Say."

"This is not a time for the timid or faint of heart," said Stiglich. "We can either fight for our cherished values and freedoms or compromise to the point America is no longer recognizable as we once knew it. I choose to fight."

When asked why she was supporting Stiglich, campaign manager Mary Barnes explained, "I was never involved in politics until I met Colonel Pete. He's a good, honest man who is genuinely concerned about the people and not the special interests. He excelled as a leader in the Air Force and I believe he's just the kind of guy we need fighting for us in Washington. He's definitely earned my trust, my confidence and my vote."

Stiglich's YouTube announcement of his candidacy can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwXK-4c9d-g . His official campaign Web site is located at www.colonelpete4congress.com

The public is invited to a noon grand opening Tuesday, Dec. 8, of Stiglich's campaign headquarters at 1510 Hartnell Ave., Suite A, Redding.
