The Awana Club in Happy Valley is ready to begin another year.
This club has been run at Cloverdale Community Church for over 20 years. It is a club of students between the ages of 4 – 18 years that gets together during the school year on Wednesday nights.
A typical club night includes game time, scripture memorization, story time, songs, and much more. Beginning at 6:15 pm each Wednesday, it is an hour and a half of fun and learning.
The adult leaders have been known to have just as much fun as the clubbers. The clubbers have opportunities to earn "Awana Bucks" which they can spend in the club store for various prizes and snacks.
Throughout the year there are also various outings for the clubbers to attend which could include: skate nights, pinewood car race, caroling, or bowling.
The kindergarten through 2nd grade group already has a visit to the Salmon Festival planned.
In addition to the Awana activities, Cloverdale has Sunday school for all ages. The junior high and high school age students have been on trips such as: waterfall hikes and Christian concerts. Now they are having a Car Wash Fundraiser on Oct. 17th from 12 - 3 pm at Napa Auto Parts in Anderson to raise funds for a trip to attend a play at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
Awana pre-registration night is on Wednesday, Oct. 7th with a free community hotdog BBQ from 6 – 7 pm. Cloverdale Community Church, 16350 Hawthorne Ave in Happy Valley. Come join us! For more information on these events call 357-2081.
