The Nor Cal Invitational Swim Meets were held at Anderson High School last Friday (varsity) and Saturday (novice).
Friday was for the varsity swimmers and Anderson only had three swimmers in the meet due to time qualifying standards for Division 1 Section, which had to be met in order to compete.
The Cub swimmers who competed on Friday were Allison Lafayette (200 I.M.), Makayla Taylor (100 back), and Josh Gibson (50 free).
These three swimmers were also able to compete with the rest of their team on Saturday, in the Novice meet.
In the Nor Cal Novice Invitational on Saturday Allison Lafayette was an outstanding finisher for Anderson. She placed 3rd in the 200 free (2:34.18), 3rd in the 50 fly (36.54), 5th in the 50 free (31.42), and 5th in the 100 free (1:10.37). Makayla Taylor placed 3rd in the 100 IM (1:22.02), and 5th in the 50 fly (37.34).
For the boys, Josh Gibson placed 3rd in the 100 free (1:06.52), and Jon Creech placed 6th in the 500 free (7:48.42).
According to Don Williams, Anderson's swimming coach, the young Cub swimmers performed exceptionally well. He added that they had thirty-one races where each swimmer bettered their personal best times.
"The improvement I'm seeing from these young swimmers is fantastic," said Williams. "I look forward to seeing them race each week, just to see them go faster."
On Wednesday, October 7 Anderson will host its last home meet of the season. The tri-dual meet against Winters and West Valley will begin at 3:30 P.M.
