The Anderson Cubs traveled down Winters last Friday to face the Warriors and walked away victorious with a score of 13-7.
"I'm really proud of the boys, we drove two plus hours on a bus and they won the game," said Lance Gosch, head coach for Anderson High School.
According to Gosch, two big plays really helped with the win. The first big play came from Joe Allegretto when he ran down the field for a 76 yard touchdown. Then Drew Deprima also ran the ball 60 yards for another touchdown for the Cubs.
"Our defense made a nice goal line stand in the first quarter of the game, then with two minutes to go in the fourth quarter, they held strong and tackled opposing players, to hold Willows and win the game," said Gosch.
Gosch said offensively the Cubs had three fumbles and an interception, they need to clean up the mistakes, but overall played really well. Especially the defense, which played strong and held Winters in crutial moments of the game.
The win against Winter moves Anderson's record to 2-3 for the season as they go into Friday's game against Lassen at home.
