Blame it on the economy!

Haven Humane Society's ongoing pet food bank is once again running low.

All types of pet foods are currently being accepted at the shelter during regular daily hours. This vital program assists those who are struggling financially with the care of their pets.

Haven's Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ray John said the shelter is grateful to those individuals and groups in the community that have stepped up to the plate to help pets in need during these difficult times.

Donations may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 7449 Eastside Road, Redding.

"We would rather see pets remain with their families than be surrendered to the shelter. That is why we are encouraging the public to keep the pet food drive going," said John.

Volunteers repack various types of dog and cat foods into sizes that are easier to handle for everyone including seniors and those with smaller pets.
