The Eagles went down to Corning on Friday and played tough, but were unable to win on the road this week.
The Cardinals held West Valley to 10 points going into the half making the score 20-10, but the Eagles came out strong in the second half.
At the beginning of the second half Corning marched the ball down the field their own 8-yard line. However, they made the first of several mistakes by fumbling the ball, which the Eagles came up with.
Two snaps of the ball later, quartberback Ronny Hampton connected with Jake Gibbins for a 93-yard touchdown pass.
An interception on the Cardinals next drive resulted in an Eagles field goal by kicker Tyler Lowe, tying the game going into the fourth quarter.
After the battle for the ball with both teams exchanging punts, the Cardinals took the ball down the field and scored making the game 27-20.
Not to be out done, Lowe ran the kick-off return to Corning's 37-yard line. Where Hampton was able to connect with Zach Miller for a 34-yard catch and then on the quarterback keeper, ran the ball in for a touchdown, to once again tie the game.
After both teams turned the ball over to each other, the Cardinals received the ball with 1:40 to go in the fourth quarter on their own 47-yard line.
They kept the ball on the ground and Cameron Nye of Corning was able was able to run the ball into the end zone with 37 seconds left.
Corning then tried an onside kick, which failed and the Eagles had the ball on their own 42-yard line.
After two passes from Hampton, the Eagles were on the Cardinal's 23-yard line with 5.7 seconds left. Hampton threw the ball one last time, but was unable to connect with a receiver.
After a tough game, the Eagles lost 34-27.
The Eagles and Cubs will face-off at Anderson on Friday's game.
