APD gets a $57,000 grant to buy traffic safety equipment

Two solar-powered speed sensors are among the traffic safety equipment to be purchased by the Anderson Police Department with a $57,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, APD Chief Dale Webb said.

The speed sensors are permanent fixtures which include a posting of a road's speed limit and a digital readout of a driver's current speed, Webb said.

The locations of the speed sensors will be determined after conferring with City of Anderson Public Works Department, Webb said.

Other items to be purchased with the grant include a mobile radar trailer and preliminary alcohol testing equipment, commonly known as "breathalizers."
