Purchasers of new cars, light trucks, motor homes or motorcycles may qualify for a special deduction of state and local sales and excise taxes on their 2009 federal tax returns, the Internal Revenue Service announced.
Purchases made before Jan. 1, 2010, will qualify, according to IRS spokesperson Jesse Weller.
