A 64-year-old Redding man was arrested Monday afternoon when Anderson police allegedly found a nine-inch steak knife on him after officers were called to a senior citizens’ center for a report of a man in a trench coat yelling at passersby.

Police were called to the Frontier Senior Center around 1: 50 p.m. after someone reported that Alvin Rockney Norris was outside the center harassing guests, said Capt. Robert Kirvin.

Norris started yelling, but left soon after police were called, according to an Anderson police incident report.

Officers located Norris nearby, he was searched, and the steak knife was found in his possession, Kirvin said.

Norris was booked into the Shasta County jail on suspicion of possessing a concealed weapon. He was later released.
