Happy Valley Chili for the Chills - Nov. 6, 5-8 p.m. at 5400 Happy Valley Road. Chili, corn bread, cole slaw and beverage for $5. Children's portion $3. Supports Happy Valley Citizen Volunteer Patrol. For information, 357-3829.

Food Stash Fundraising Dinner in Cottonwood - Nov. 6, 6:30 p.m. at Cottonwood Community Center, 20595 Gas Point Rd. $20 for tri-tip dinner and entertainment including New Tech jazz band and drama club. Funds benefit the Food Stash food bank in Cottonwood. For ticket information, 347-3691.

Art on the Wild Side - Nov. 7, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., at Gaia Hotel in Anderson. Art show features artists specializing in wildlife and wilderness art. $10 admission, but free for children under age 8. Proceeds benefit Shasta Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation. For information, 917-0930.

Cottonwood Soup Kitchen - Nov. 7, 6 p.m. at Cottonwood Community Center, 20595 Gas Point Rd., Cottonwood. Cottonwood honorary mayor announced. For information, 347-1230.

Christmas Craft Fair and Bazaar - Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Nov. 14, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at Redding Veterans Memorial Hall, 1605 Yuba St. in Redding. Unique gifts from over 50 vendors. Proceeds benefit Shasta County veterans.

Handle's Messiah and sing along - Dec. 4, 7:30 p.m. at the LDS Church, 4075 Riverside Ave, Anderson. The community is invited to join in singing familiar Christmas carols as well as selected excerpts from Handel's Messiah. Anyone who has prior choral experience and is familiar with the Messiah is invited to participate in the core choir. Rehearsals begin Nov. 4. For information, 549-3070.

Youth Activities

Open Gym - Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., through the school year at Anderson Middle School. Open to youth in middle or high school. For information, 378-6656.

Anderson Library Storytime - Thursdays, 3:30 p.m., at 3200 W. Center St., in Anderson. On Oct. 29, story time features stories, stickers and crafts. Library hours: Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For information, 365-7685.
