Eagles fall to Falcons; Cubs lose on the road

The West Valley girls' volleyball team lost to Central Valley Thursday, bringing an end to their 59 game winning streak in the NAL.

The Eagles played tough, but the Falcons were able to take control of the match. Even when the Eagles cut their 7-0 lead to 19-18, and then tied the match 23-23, the Falcons were still able to hold on for the win.

Then in the third set, West Valley fell behind and could never catch up to the Falcons. The final score 25-21, 25-23, 25-17. This is the Eagles (5-1 league, 27-8) first league loss since 2003.

Jessica Wilcox and Paige Adkins both had seven kills, Ashley Vittelaro had six blocks and Amy Westaby had 17 digs.

Cubs lose on the road

The Anderson girls' volleyball team lost to Corning on Thursday.

The team started out strong winning the first set 25-10, but then lost the next two sets 25-13, 25-15. They came back in the fourth set, 25-14, to put the game into a fifth set, but fell to Corning 15-11.
