Free tire recycling offered at fairgrounds Nov. 7

A free tire recycling event open to Shasta County residents is scheduled for Nov. 7, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Shasta District Fair parking lot, 1890 Briggs Rd., in Anderson, sponsored by Shasta County Department of Resource management.

Residents can transport up to nine tires per vehicle without an authorization letter. Five of the nine tires can be on rims. Call the office for a letter to transport up to 20 tires per vehicle. Five of the 20 tires can be on rims. Do not bring tires more than six feet in diameter or tires from car/tire dealers or wrecking yards.

Anyone transporting more tires than authorized will be reported to the California Integrated Waste Managemen Board (CIWMB) as an unregistered waste tire hauler.

The event is funded by a grant from the CIWMB. if you have any questions, please contact Community Education at 225-5789.
