Anderson Youth Soccer's U16 boys Scorcher's ended their season Saturday winning their eighth and final game of the season against Lassen, 4-0. This season the teams played more games out of the area than normal, traveling every other week to Paradise, Orovile, Lassen and other locations along with playing games on their home field at Anderson River Park. The team began practices in August with long workouts to get into shape and work on their skills. They then began practice at night after school started, practicing until 9 p.m. There are players on the team from Weaverville, Red Bluff, Anderson and Cottonwood. The 18 man team is coached by Don Coon, Greg Merkel, Roger Hatton and Chuck Dethero. The next area of play set for the team is to compete at District Cup for the Championship and a chance to move on to the state level if they chose to. After the last league game of the season, Saturday October 25th, the boys as a team thanked their parents after the game for supporting them through the season.

"If it weren't for the parents taking the boys to practices and games out of town, we would not have been able to make it this far," said Coach Greg Merkel.
