Chad Bennett of Cottonwood moved to the area two and a half years ago after living most of his life in Stockton.
While in the Stockton area, he attended Tokay High School in Lodi and graduated in 1989. He then attended auto shop classes at a college in Stockton. Knowing that there was not much more for him to learn in the field, Bennett attended Stockton Barber College for 10 months and earned his barber's certificate.
He and his family moved to Shasta County after some urging from a friend. The family had also spent time in the area while Bennett was growing up.
The owner of Cottonwood Barber Shop wanted to retire, so Bennett joined Woody Clendenen in the business of cutting hair.
Bennett works approximately 38 hours a week at the shop and plans to continue cutting hair until he retires.
When not at the barber shop in Cottonwood, Bennett spends time coaching Pee-Wee football for the Junior Eagles Pop Warner Football Program. He also coaches Little League and Senior Little League in Cottonwood. He has been coaching baseball for ten years and football for two.
Bennett also enjoys team roping with roping partners Woody Clendenen and Kyler Olson, both of Cottonwood. He mostly does team roping to compete in jackpot team roping events.
"Cottonwood is a great place to live," stated Bennett. "It takes you back in time. People are here to do for one another and care about their neighbors. It is a great place to raise a family."
Bennett has two sons, one plays football for West Valley High School and the other participates in Pop Warner Football.
