In last Thursday's 100-degree heat the West Valley Girl's Tennis team hosted Las Plumas. While it was just a scrimmage, the Lady Eagles swept all of their matches with strong play.
"Things couldn't have gone better for us," said Coach Tom Wyrick. "Las Plumas is a great school and very similar to us, because they are a smaller school and don't play club tennis."
Wyrick says he likes playing pre-season because it gives the girls the opportunity to play bigger schools and gives the girls experience they can put under their belt. There are still a two more pre-season matches planned for the team.
"Corning, Central Valley, and Yreka are matches we are looking forward to and they're going to be tough," said Wyrick.
The team is also looking forward to playing Anderson Union High School this Thursday, September 3rd, at AUHS at 3:30 pm.
"The nice thing about tennis is that we all have a friendly competition and everyone has fun," said Wyrick of the teams West Valley plays.
