Mildred "Micky" Kardell
Born May 4, 1916 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, Mildred "Micky" (Heffelfinger) Kardell was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Aug.24, 2009 at Golden Living care home in Redding.
Her family moved to California while she was still a young child. She grew up in Inglewood and later attended cosmetology school. She met Rune, the love of her life and they married in 1936. She spent her entire life as a homemaker devoted to her husband and family.
Micky was Mom to her three daughters, Gerry Hubbard, Carol Dorstad and Virginia Reeter, who survive her. She was Nanny to eight grandchildren, Great-Nanny to 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was Aunt Micky to a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by four sisters, Kay Davidson, Dodie Brown, Louise Pfeiffer, and Twila Parrick, two brothers, Roy and John Heffelfinger and husband Rune Kardell, of 66 years of marriage.
Her journey on earth spanned 93 years and now she has gone home to the reward that was promised her. There will be stars in her crown for all the sacrifices she made caring for her family.
Micky and Rune are together again.
Graveside services are planned for the family.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Good News Rescue Mission and Haven Humane Society.
