Several musical acts and food vendors are lined up for the first Anderson Street Fair on Sept. 12, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., along East Center Street in Anderson.

"We're celebrating a beautiful new street and some new businesses," fair committee member Pat Wellman said. "We're encouraging the businesses to have sidewalk sales that day."

Musical acts throughout the day include the following:

1-2:30 p.m. - Torpedos

3-4:30 p.m. - Slam Buckra

5-6:30 p.m. - The Hustlers

7-8:30 p.m. - The Taxi Project

A wine tasting event from noon to 4 p.m. was also scheduled.

With the Anderson Teen Center providing activities for youths and children, fair organizers hope to draw entire families to the event.

"We want to draw attention to the businesses and get new customers over to them," said Dana Shigley, Anderson's City Manager. "We want to see that area thrive."

The fair marks the end of the city's five-year effort for street redevelopment that has involved constructing the Anderson Teen Center/Shasta County Public Health building, Anderson Fire Protection District museum, landscaping and business attraction.

The fair is a joint venture between City of Anderson and Anderson Chamber of Commerce.

Any businesses or organizations desiring booth space at the event should contact 365-6747 or the Anderson Chamber of Commerce at 365-8095.
