South County Profile: Kay Kincaid

KAY KINCAID

KAY KINCAID

Kay Kincaid moved to Shasta County in 1976 and opened her store called Kincaid's in Cottonwood on Front Street in 1987. At the time, Kincaid carried antiques and other items. She had her store on Front Street for 20 years. Kincaid then moved her store to Brush Street where it is currently located.

Besides antiques, Kincaid carries clothing, purses, Bughton jewelry, candles, moccasins and vintage linen. Kincaid enjoys designing and making some of the clothing that she carries.

Before opening her shop, Kincaid spent many years crafting and dealing with antiques. She finally decided that she wanted to branch out and do a bit more in the business side of things.

Kincaid currently works 25 hours a week.

Each Friday, she cooks dinner for the homeless at Caldwell Park, which is something that was started through her husband's church, Echo's of Calvary, in Anderson.

They serve dinner every Friday beginning at 6 p.m. On any given Friday night, they serve 50 to 200 people.

"It is nice to know that we can make a difference in the lives of others. We have been able to see a few success stories over the past three and a half years. It also truly has made a change in us," said Kincaid.

Kincaid is a 1971 graduate of Rio Linda High School. After high school, she attended Southern Bible College in Houston Texas.

Kincaid has been married to her husband Rod for 33 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren.
