The Eagles faced off against the Cubs last week in a swim meet held at West Valley, where the Eagles came away with their first league win.

"We have a young team," said Don Williams, swim coach for Anderson Union High School. "Our team is comprised of twenty swimmers who have never had swimming experience before high school, and over half of the Cub swimmers are new to swimming this season and are still learning how to properly perform the strokes, turns, and dives."

According to Williams, he had already anticipated the West Valley victory, due to the experienced swimmers that are on their team.

"Marc Soares has done a terrific job of building West Valley's swim program for the past several years. Their numbers and experience are too much for us to compete with," said Williams. "I expect to see tremendous improvement throughout the season (and have) already seen stroke improvement and race times getting faster."

Anderson's top swimmers returning for the girls were junior Makayla Taylor, junior Terra Gibson, and sophomore Alison Layfayette. Returing for the boys was junior Alex Nepper.
